Slaughter Houses generate solid as well as liquid wastes with high BOD/ COD load. While the Solid Waste is put to rendering plants, the alternative technology of Bio-Methanation (Mailhem Technology) shows prominence due to increasing energy cost. The liquid effluent can be treated by non-chemical biological processes comprising of Anaerobic Digestion in Hybrid type Up flow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket Reactor (UASBR) followed by Aerobic Fixed Film Fluidized Reactor (F3R). The tertiary treatment with Ultrafiltration (UF) yields the recyclable quality water for reuse in Pan Area or floor washing. The biogas generated from the Hybrid UASBR can be utilized for power generation in excess of captive use in Effluent Treatment.
